Meet the Owner

Hello,

When Iron Palace was founded by Jarrett Ferguson and Ryan Crush, it was their vision to educate and implement proper sports performance training in the Roanoke valley. After Jarrett became a strength coach at his alma mater—Virginia Tech and Ryan pursued other career options, it was an honor to take over. My goal remains the same, to help educate and elevate athletes in the area.

“Whether it is speed & agility training, weight lifting, or combine prep, I believe in progressions while training. In the most simple terms, this means building up to specific movements rather than jumping right into a complex clean or snatch for example. As a coach and mentor, I believe it is my responsibility to help athletes achieve their goals.”

“When I returned to my hometown to start a new adventure with my family, I wanted to spend time being a great husband and father.  I also wanted to sharpen my coaching skills and keep developing as a coach.  I spent time visiting with local coaches, attending different sporting events, and also coaching and training my own children.  I began to see a need for an athletic performance program.  We started the Iron Palace with the purpose of providing a training atmosphere to develop, encourage, and challenge athletes to become the best.   We trained the athletes using progressions, holding them accountable, and instilling discipline in them by holding them to our standards.  This allowed them to master lifting and athletic movements, be around like-minded athletes, and be a part of a program that will aid in getting them to the next level.  I felt we truly accomplished our goal for the athletic community and it is still going.

Nick Wade was an athlete in our program and he is continuing on the journey that we started a few years ago. Nick has the same fight that we have when it comes to training athletes.  He knows what it takes to get to the next level and the process that will get you there.  He was like a sponge when he was an athlete at our facility to learn about programming, techniques, and coaching cues for all aspects of performance.  He will continue to do an outstanding job servicing the athletic community through the IRON PALACE.”

“Training at the Iron Palace was instrumental in my journey to playing at the next level. I received personalized training that helped to develop me both physically and mentally. The Iron Palace trainers helped me formulate strength and speed goals that were specific to my athletic aspirations. After setting these goals they developed a plan for me and pushed me towards reaching my goals. I put in a lot of hard work while training at the Iron Palace and during that time I was able to form many great relationships with trainers and training partners that made my time there a blast. I’m thankful for my time at the Iron Palace with Coach Wade and everyone who I was able to train alongside!”
